ATEX-compliant chemical injection package (CIP) designed to strict footprint criteria
This challenging design is for a platform with significantly limited deck space. As such, a large part of the design was to ensure all the equipment fitted within the confines of the available space and that we achieved good maintenance access.
Whilst it is a complex pump skid, we have achieved excellent access, both in terms of maintenance and ease of replacement for large components.
All design, build, and testing was done here at our factory in Worcester, UK and our engineers will soon be offshore for commissioning.
Features of this CIP
- This chemical injection package features a maintenance-free spherical resonator. We have used spherical resonators for over twenty years as, in many applications, they offer two major advantages over bladder-type dampers.
- Much of this pump skid – the base frame, process lines, and process valves – is manufactured in high grade Duplex stainless steel. Our pump skid packages are generally bespoke, high specification systems designed for demanding applications in harsh conditions. Correct material selction is a fundamental part of the deisgn process.
- The pump is the unique Hammelmann Hampro 72V with variable stroke/flow adjustment. The technology of the Hampro variable stroke pump eliminates the need for a VSD, thus offering a considerable cost saving in both hardware and site installation costs.
Compact and Modular – the challenges.
This unit is one of many compact and modular pump packages we have designed and built over the last decade or so. The repurposing, electrifcation, and life extensions of offshore rigs and platforms has presented us with some real challenges in terms of footprint and access.
For this pump package, the challenge was the limited footprint. Never have we had to fit so much equipment into such a small space. A huge advantage for us is that our design office is next to the factory. This means the design team are able to watch the build progress and are on hand to support the build team.
On Test
The unit is currently being set up for testing. Our customer will visit to witness the F.A.T. test. Offshore commissioning will follow soon afterwards.
