Modular Chemical Injection Pump Package for the Norwegian North Sea
We are proud to share a recent project milestone from the Brage platform in the Norwegian North Sea.
This equipment supports the Bestla field (formerly the Brasse field), which has been developed as a subsea tieback to the Brage platform. We worked closely with our customer, Aker Solutions AS – the EPCIC for the topside modifications – and the operator, OKEA ASA. Representatives from both organisations joined us at our in-house test facilities in Worcester, UK, to witness the successful final testing.

The Modular Pump Skids Have Arrived on the Brage Platform

The image shows one half of a Calder modular chemical injection pump package engineered specifically for ATEX Zone 2 hazardous area operations. Because the unit had to be carefully manoeuvred through existing topside infrastructure to reach its final location, our engineering team developed a specialised modular design to make installation possible.
Built to rigorous project specifications, this package was designed, manufactured, and tested entirely at Calder’s UK factory. Key technical requirements include:
- Longevity: A robust 20-year design life.
- Reliability: Engineered to endure a minimum of 6 months without the need for maintenance.
- Safety & Compliance: Strict adherence to stringent noise level limits and ATEX Zone 2 standards.
- Preservation: Specialised preparation by our team to enable safe storage for up to 6 months prior to commissioning.
Preservation of the Chemical Injection Skid
Following the successful F.A.T. testing, we carried out preservation on the pump package to enable it to be stored (in this instance) for up to 6 months.
Preservation included:
- Gearbox and pump filled completely with oil to protect internal components.
- Tubing and valves drained and internally dried.
- Junction boxes protected internally and externally.
- Pressure instruments and display readouts protected.
- Motor terminal boxes protected.
- All preserved items tagged.
You will see in the image both modules that make up the complete pump skid.
