Main Duties

  • Interpret Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and present design concepts to customers and other interested stakeholders.
  • Action the preparation of proposals for a range of bespoke products by co-ordinating the activities of the Proposals, Sales and Engineering teams.
  • Respond to customer questions and requests in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Review and action the customers enquiry process into a costed workable solution.
  • Work with Sales Managers or customer prospect to ascertain the enquiry information necessary to produce sales proposals.
  • Submit a detailed response to the enquiry documentation and provide responses to any subsequent requests for clarification.
  • Act as the Company’s internal contact point for the customer during the enquiry and bidding processes.
  • Develop, negotiate and agree contract specifications with a variety of external groups.
  • Support the Sales team in negotiations with the customer and convert those opportunities into purchase orders.
  • Assist the team with further developing the costing process as part of the quotation process.
  • Support the Proposals team by maintaining the cost, customers and supplier databases, pricelists and libraries.
  • Carry out regular proposal follow ups and maintain the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and sales programs.
  • Clarify purchase order receipt and to prepare detailed order handover documentation in a timely manner for contract engineering to execute the contract.

Desirable Skills, Competencies & Experience

  • Good IT Skills conversant with MS Windows and Office packages.
  • Be a team player.
  • Have good communication skills and the ability to build relationships.
  • A sound engineering background, an engineering qualification would be advantageous.
  • Experience in a similar role, preferably in energy process applications.
  • Experience in dealing with rotating equipment supply and a background of tendering and proposal preparation for engineering packages.
  • You will be commercially aware.
  • Knowledge of contractual terms and conditions.
  • Good awareness of product limitations.
  • Aware of Quality and Environmental Systems and the ability to work to the expected requirements of these systems.
  • Highly responsive to customer requirements.
  • You will need technical and practical understanding of mobile and fixed rotating equipment including hydraulics, electrics, diesel and pumps.
  • Be able to interpret and respond to a wide range of technical specifications in order to propose and present design concepts and costings to clients.
